Finding Canadian Partners
There is no parallel search engine in Canada to the CORDIS website, however, depending on your field, there are several databases you can use as a starting point.
One cost effective way to find Canadian researchers active in a particular field is to search the following databases of nationally funded researchers and research projects. It is possible to search these databases by research topic, field of expertise, discipline and institutional affiliation.
National databases are available in the following fields / areas:
Health: Please use the Canadian Institutes of Health Research Funded Research Database
Natural Sciences and Engineering: Please use the Awards Search Engine of the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council
Social Sciences and Humanities: Please use the Awards Search Engine of the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council
National databases of researchers and research projects in multiple fields include:
Research Infrastructure Projects: Please use the Canada Foundation for Innovation Funded Projects Database
Government Scientists and Laboratories: Please use the National Research Council Expertise Database
Canada Research Chairs: Please use the Canada Research Chairholder Profiles
Canadian University Databases of Research Projects: Please use the AUCC compendium of Canadian University Research Websites for access to institutional databases of research projects.
Finding European Partners
The CORDIS website features an advanced electronic partner search engine . You can search by research interest, target country, and many other queries. You will find a list of potential partners in your area – either researchers who are already involved in an FP7 funded project, or researchers looking for associate partners to join them. The site lists all the contact information and the database is extensive.
Canadians can also add their own profiles to the “partner search engines.” Europeans frequently use them to find partners for international projects. International participation is required for all funding from the European Commission.
There are several other extensive partner search engines for finding European partners:
Informal Group of national R&D Liaison Offices based in Brussels:
IGLO Partner Search
EUREKA: A pan-European network for market-oriented industrial research serving businesses, research centres and universities:
Project Search
Intnernational Network for Small and Medium sized Enterprises:
INSME Partner Search
“Partner search engines” covering specific fields are operated by the following organizations:
IDEAL-IST serves ICT companies and research organisations searching for partners for a participation in FP7.
IST-EC 2 is a joint Canada-Europe project whose objective is to connect the European and Canadian research communities in key areas of the Information Society Technologies (IST): IST-EC2 Partner Search
